September 15 to November 15, 2021
CMHA-SOS is asking our community for help.
We need 4 things from our community:
1. Fundraising to support CMHA-SOS programs
Even prior to the pandemic, programs that support Mental Health were inadequate. The pandemic has made situations worse with isolation, economic insecurity, and stress. We need more funding resources to enhance our programs and make them more available to meet the increased need.
2. Fundraising to support CMHA’S move to a new facility
The current location of Unity House will no longer be available to CMHA-SOS. This has become an unexpected challenge. We will need to move our programs and services from 2852 Skaha Lake Road to a new location.
3. Community help in finding a new location
We are looking for a new facility. Minimum 2500 sq. ft., with restrooms, kitchen, dining area, recreational area, and a couple of offices. This new location must be on a local bus route and easily accessible for our clients. This can be a leased facility for the time being, or perhaps a facility to be purchased. At this time, we have 300+ who access our space on a regular basis; however, our branch served over 1000 clients throughout the South Okanagan last year.
4. Community awareness of what programs are available & how we help those who need access to our programs
We offer wellness programs, suicide prevention programs, Living Life to the Full group program, Mental Health First Aid training. Unity Clubhouse programs and a daily meals program.
